Snoring therapy and sleep apnea – for restful, safe sleep

Sleep apnea is a serious condition in which breathing pauses occur repeatedly during sleep – often associated with loud snoring. Untreated, it can significantly affect quality of life and increase health risks.

How to recognise sleep apnea

Sleep apnea causes repeated breathing pauses at night. Many affected people initially notice only nonspecific symptoms. Typical signs are:

  • Marked daytime fatigue and problems with concentration
  • Microsleep (e.g. while driving)
  • Morning headaches
  • Night sweats
  • Frequent night-time urination

Causes can be excess weight, alcohol consumption in the evening, anatomical particularities or age.

Diagnosis and treatment – individually tailored

The diagnosis is made in a sleep laboratory. There, the number and total duration of breathing pauses are measured, as is the degree of blood oxygen (de)saturation. Depending on the findings, the condition is classified into different severity levels.

Treatment options – individual consultation

The gold standard is treatment with a positive pressure mask (CPAP) worn during sleep. This therapy is very effective, but it is not well tolerated by all patients and, due to the noise, can also be disturbing for the partner.

In mild to moderate sleep apnea, when indicated, a mandibular advancement device can be used successfully.

We work closely with an experienced master laboratory and produce an effective, individually fitted device that interferes with your daily life as little as possible.
